Benefits of Studying From Home
Throughout my academic journey, from school to college and university, I've always had a passion for learning something new. However, the traditional classroom environment never quite suited me. Large semester rooms and early morning classes posed challenges for my concentration and preferred working style. Consequently, my attendance suffered during my bachelor's and master's degree programs.
As a night owl, I found early morning classes ineffective, often leaving the room without grasping the material. To catch up, I had to dedicate additional evenings at home, reading online notes. This meant wasting time and money on commuting just for attendance purposes, rather than focusing on actual learning.
Fortunately, studying from the comfort of my home allowed me to excel and achieve first-class degrees. Learning at my own pace, without distractions, on a schedule that suited me, made the process more enjoyable. Now that my university days are behind me, I've established a productive morning routine that maximises my time and productivity, thanks to the absence of travel to classes.
While studying at an institution offers social interaction and face-to-face connections, distance learning courses are far more convenient for individuals with busy lifestyles, limited time, and financial constraints. These courses still provide opportunities to network with like-minded students online.
As seen on my LinkedIn profile, I have 26 qualifications, 11 of which were obtained through distance-learning courses. I was taught by expert teachers who deliver the courses online, allowing me to learn from the comfort of my own home. After finishing school, I made a commitment to lifelong learning, consistently pushing myself to improve my job opportunities and expand my knowledge in a variety of subjects.
At the age of 29, I prioritise my time to complete at least two new courses each year, alongside running my own business full-time. I've pursued studies in diverse areas such as business management, customer service, marketing, PR, photography, accountancy, and retail.
However, my thirst for knowledge remains unquenched, especially considering the digital era we live in, where accessing information through websites has become an integral part of our lives. Since I run an online business my upcoming learning phase for the new year involves seeking web design courses to get coding skills. These are an invaluable qualification for career advancement, whether self-employed or employed.
