With new cocktail bars popping up all over Birmingham, this stylish Cosmopolitan city is the place to go for after-work mojitos or extravagant smoky cocktails at the weekend.
I’m very fond of a cheeky cocktail or four so here’s my list of the best cocktail bars in Birmingham right now based on my personal experiences over the past few years.
To soak up the cocktails these venues also serve up full food menus, street food or bar snacks so they’ve got you covered if you have one too many at Happy Hour!
1. The Lost & Found - Bennetts Hill

The Lost & Found serves up whimsical cocktails and a full seasonal food menu in a grand Victorian building on Bennetts Hill. This Birmingham city centre cocktail bar & restaurant has a not so secret Victorian hideaway that can be booked for special occasions, so it could just be the perfect place to hire to impress friends and family if you have an upcoming celebration.
Event or not The Lost & Found is the place to go for molecular mixology, seasonal cuisine and glamorous Victorian décor in the heart of Birmingham.
We often enjoy the Mr Benedict Pike (£9.25), Ms Hettie G.Watson (£8.50) and Ms Victoria B.Darcy (£9.75) from the Professor section of the cocktail menu.
If drinking gives you the munchies and you fancy snapping a few photos for the gram, then you’ll be in the right place, The Lost & Found is home to one of the many Instagramable restaurants in Birmingham.

I’m not a stranger to visiting Malmaison at the Mailbox, it’s a city centre destination where you can mix a day of pampering, food and cocktails and enjoy Sunday Lunch with all you can eat starters plus a brunch offer that includes a variety of cocktails.
The new Malchemy cocktail menu at Malmaison, Birmingham has 4 themes; power, love, infidelity & forgiveness telling the story of Napoleon & Josephine whilst living at Chateau de Malmaison.
Alternatively, if you are visiting at the weekend, you can enjoy a delicious three-course Sunday lunch menu at Malmaison to indulge in a hearty meal and soak up those cocktails before you head home.
3. Browns - Bullring

When the sun is out in Birmingham, there’s nothing I love more than sipping on a few fruity cocktails at Browns restaurant which can be found opposite St. Martin’s church at the Bullring.
Browns have a lovely alfresco dining restaurant in Birmingham with seating outside as well as on the upper level so that you can enjoy luxury dining and cocktails while overlooking the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
The gin cocktails, in particular, the blood orange & grapefruit is a personal favourite. I also enjoy visiting for their indulgent afternoon tea in Birmingham offering.

The Edgbaston is an award-winning cocktail lounge located in Edgbaston Village. They perhaps have the most extensive cocktail menu of all the venues on this list and they certainly have a lot more to offer than just food and drink as the venue is also a boutique hotel and is worth a visit just to admire its glamorous art deco interior.
But if the glitz and glam of the interiors aren’t enough to get you to visit, its contemporary garden with sun loungers surely will.

5. Birdies - Digbeth, The Custard Factory

One of the newest venues to launch in the city is Birdies located at the Custard Factory in Digbeth. The venue offers a variety of street style grub along with a tropical-inspired tiki cocktail menu and surroundings to match.
With palm trees and splashes of colour everywhere; Birdies Bar & Barbeque is a great alternative venue to visit with mostly outdoor spacing to enjoy drinks, food and catch up with friends along with a game of Ghetto Golf conveniently located next door.
Ghetto Golf is one of the many fun leisure activities in Birmingham to enjoy while your out with friends in the city. Across the road from Birdies is also the popular Digbeth Dining Club which is certainly one of the most vibrant independent places to go in Birmingham for a great night out.

If you are looking for thing's to do in Birmingham make your way across the road from The Lost & Found on Bennetts Hill, and you will find the stylish cocktail bar, Dirty Martini.
Quickly gaining its status as one of the most Instagramable bars in Birmingham it is a popular place for after-work drinks and selfies against its neon-lit angel wing wall at the weekend.
Dirty Martini is relatively new to the city of Birmingham, their opening launch consisted of a menu of Peaky Blinder inspired cocktails so I’ve been hooked on the place ever since and especially love their brunch offering which comes with tasty bites displayed in a birdcage and bottomless Pink or Blood Orange G&Ts, Martinis & Prosecco for £30pp.
7. Bodega - Bennetts Hill

Also, to be found on Bennetts Hill is Bodega Cantina, a South American restaurant in Birmingham known for its Happy Hour where you can enjoy 2 cocktails for £9 and a great selection of authentic cuisine and 'day of the dead' themed surroundings to match.
If you fancy having a go at making your own cocktails Bodega Cantina have cocktail masterclasses in Birmingham available for £25pp. Bookings are available for a minimum of 8 people so it would be fun to book to celebrate a birthday or hen do.
8. Be At One - Brindleyplace

Be at One located at Brindleyplace is a lively bar that gives me Coyote Ugly movie vibes whenever I visit with the staff serving up a few moves behind the counter (and sometimes ontop of the counter) along with their sweet, sour and spicy cocktails.
The drinks menu is packed with cheeky cocktail names like the ‘Tropic like its hot’ and fun unusual mixes such as spiced rums mixed with banana, caramel, bread and milk.
Be At One also offers mixing masterclasses so if your squad are a lively bunch this is the place to go.
9. The Canal House - Bridge Street

At the heart of the city's canal system, you’ll find The Canal House in Birmingham with rustic country-style tavern features, eye-catching chandeliers made from recycled glassware, British pub grub with a twist, live music and canal views.
With the pub being just a short walk from the Library of Birmingham on Bridge street it’s in a great central location to enjoy its alfresco offering and ‘sip your selfie’ cocktails.
10. All Bar One - Brindleyplace

There’s a couple of All Bar One’s dotted around the city, but my favourite location to visit is at Brindleyplace which is a few steps away from Be At One.
Just like most bars nowadays, All Bar One also hosts cocktail masterclasses. I’ve taken part in two at different locations in Birmingham so I can confirm it’s a fun activity to do with friends on a night out.
Although they don’t have an extensive cocktail menu, the cocktails they do have are delicious, think salted caramel popcorn and candy floss. Plus, All Bar One have an Instagrammable ‘Blossom birdcage sharer’ and a fantastic food menu. It is one of my favourite places to eat vegan burgers in Birmingham so I visit often.
11. Aluna Bar - Mailbox

Aluna Bar in Birmingham can be found canalside at The Cube next to the Mailbox and is a fantastic place to visit if you fancy showstopping cocktails that flame, smoke and pop.
Not only are the cocktails Instagrammable and the mini-performance that comes with it, but the interiors are certainly worth checking out too. With the venues crushed velvet seating and ornate jewel frames adding to the overall experience.
Aluna also has a fantastic international menu and like most bars nowadays also have a winged selfie wall to get those must-have Instagram shots. Plus, if you make a night of it simply stroll to The Cube Hotel.
12. The Botanist - Temple Street

The Botanist in Birmingham located on Temple Street is one of my favourite restaurant and bars to visit in the city simply because I love the botanical themed interiors and its rustic charm.
It’s certainly one of the most popular places to visit in Birmingham for cocktails which could be down to how they present them.
Last year I had the joy of attending a cocktail masterclass at The Botanist with a group of Birmingham bloggers and we had fun creating this cocktail served in a plant pot decorated with garnish and a smoking test tube.
13. Turtle Bay - John Bright St

You’ll find that Turtle Bay in Birmingham around the corner from Grand Central on John Bright St is without a doubt the busiest of all bars in the city during the 2 for 1 Happy Hour.
The lively atmosphere and Caribbean vibes make it a fun place to let your hair down with friends at the weekend or after work.
A lot of their cocktails are all marked with either vegetarian or vegan making it straightforward for those with dietary requirements that may want to avoid frothy or creamy cocktails made with milk or eggs.

Another relatively new restaurant & bar to launch in the city is Siamais in Birmingham located at Brindleyplace.
The Thai themed venue has gorgeous interiors with baskets hanging from the ceiling and an overall great vibe. You'll find some of the tastiest asian food in Birmingham here. I highly recommend indulging in their vegan Thai massaman curry recipe, it's delicious!
Besides from their incredible food menu, my favourite cocktail must be ‘1941’ made with lychee and elderflower liquor shaken and served over crushed ice.
15. Pennyblacks - Mailbox

Located at the Mailbox within a few steps of the Aluna Bar you’ll find the neon-lit Pennyblacks. The lively venue has a food menu focusing on just pizza, hotdogs and burgers and a variety of fun and colourful cocktails with unique sweet flavours of gingerbread, bubble gum, flying saucers and candy floss.
The bar & restaurant has large screens, booths to hire for parties, two pool tables to have a competitive game with friends after work and a resident DJ every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
It is a fun independent restaurant in Birmingham to visit if you seek laidback vibes in the city.
16. Bank – Brindleyplace

Besides a fantastic menu and a luxury terrace overlooking the iconic canals. Bank restaurant in Birmingham located at Brindleyplace is home to a stylish bar with a fully stocked drinks menu and one of the longest bar spaces I’ve seen so far in the city center.
It is perfect for gathering with groups of friends after work or for starting the weekend off with a few too many cocktails.
To soak up the drinks, indulging in the vegan menu at Bank is a must to enjoy the full luxurious dining experience.
17. Pentahotel - Holloway Head

Pentahotel in Birmingham is a quirky three-star hotel located on Holloway Head a short walk from Grand Central and across the Holloway circus ring road.
I’ve stayed at the hotel twice so far and have always had a fantastic time. Especially when chilling out in the Pentalounge that’s open 24/7. It has a billiard table, a gaming console, tv, a roaring fireplace, and cosy sofas.
The Pentalounge also has a restaurant and bar with a Pentalicious food and drink menu. Every Thursday at 6 pm they have Penta O'clock in the Pentalounge area where you can enjoy 2-for-1 on drinks and 30% off on food for one hour.
18. The Gin Vault – Canal Edge

An independent hidden gem in the city centre that always gives me the Peaky Blinder feels is The Gin Vault.
Located in the heart of Birmingham’s historic canal area on the Canal edge, just off Gas Street. This cosy and romantic hangout has an expansive gin list with over 350 types of gins, so you’ll be spoilt for choice if you are gin obsessed.
To go with your botanical gins, there’s also a variety of tasty tapas to indulge in as well as live music on the weekends.
19. Sky by the Water – Resorts World Birmingham

Previously named The Sky Bar. The newly re-vamped Sky by the Water at Resorts World Birmingham is a unique bar and restaurant offering a luxurious dining experience and one of the best Instagrammable venues outside the city centre that I have yet to re-visit since they were awarded for their new venue design. But it is on my must-do list.
Located on the fifth floor of Resorts World Birmingham with a rooftop terrace you’ll find secret garden pods where you can experience exceptional food, cocktails and afternoon tea.
20. High Line - Resorts World Birmingham

As well as Sky by the Water, Resorts World Birmingham is also home to a New York-inspired bar and restaurant with a cosmopolitan open plan bar, outdoor fire-pit terrace, and a sophisticated American food and drinks menu.
The High Line is the perfect stylish bar for weekend drinks or for dining at before an event at the Arena. They also serve up bottomless brunch and cocktail masterclass experiences.
21. Revolucion De Cuba - Temple Street

Revolución de Cuba located on Temple Street in Birmingham city centre offers an authentic Cuban bar experience with Latin-inspired tapas, food and cocktails. Making it a perfect venue to enjoy a little fiesta with colleagues after work to enjoy the 2 for 1 Happy Hour between 3-7 pm every Monday to Friday.
There’s also the option to become a cocktail Maestro by booking a cocktail masterclass experience and learning about the world’s most iconic, innovative and intoxicating drinks that come from Cuba.
22. Collage Restaurant & Bar - Radisson Blu

Radisson Blu Hotel in Birmingham is the striking blue glass building taking pride of place on Birmingham’s skyline. So, there’s no denying the Radisson offers one of the top-rated hotels in Birmingham with a city view.
Although I’ve not yet stayed in the four-star hotel. I have had a sneak peek of the newly refurbished rooms at Radisson, indulged in a three-course meal, and shaken up a few cocktails during a cocktail masterclass at its Collage restaurant & bar.
The Birmingham themed dining experience with a view of the city offers delicious British cuisine, afternoon tea, and a stylish bar with an impressive selection of creative cocktails, wines, and spirits.
23. 1565 Bar & Restaurant - Park Regis Hotel

Another luxury hotel in Birmingham I have yet to stay at is the Park Regis hotel located on Broad Street.
However, what I have experienced is a delicious Japanese themed afternoon tea at Park Regis Birmingham with beautiful green city views on the 16th floor and fruity cocktails on the terrace at its 1565 Bar & Restaurant.
The 1565 terrace can be found on the 4th floor and offers a relaxing experience whatever the weather with its tranquil music, seasonal activities, heating, and blankets. Happy hour is also available from 4 pm to 7 pm, Sunday through Thursday, with a selection of cocktails for just £5 each.
24. Digbeth Dining Club - Lower Trinity St

A lively event venue situated underneath the iconic railway arches in Birmingham’s creative quarter is Digbeth Dining Club.
DDC is a popular street food destination hosting a variety of independent foodie and drink traders with the exception of the occasional well-known brands that pop-up at weekends to serve-up mouth-watering food and alcohol with a side of live entertainment in a fun social indoor-outdoor environment.
25. Coast to Coast

Located on lively Broad Street you'll find the American style restaurant and bar Coast to Coast. It is a popular place for students who seek, energetic cocktails, fully stacked burgers, supersized thin-based pizzas, steaks and a Tex-Mex feast.
Its also a great place for desserts in birmingham with its tempting cookie dough, brownies, waffles, pancakes, cheesecake and pecan pie.
Happy Hour can be enjoyed from Sunday - Friday, 5 pm - 7 pm and 9 pm - 11 pm.
26. Chung Ying Central Bar & Restaurant

The contemporary Chung Ying Central Bar & Restaurant in Birmingham is home to one of the many historical buildings on Colmore Row.
Chung Ying is part of a local chain and is well known for its classic dim sum and oriental cocktails. I’ve indulged in many vegan dishes of Chinese cuisine here including a beautiful Shanghai Rose cocktail and my first ever Chang beer.
This modern venue is the perfect place for authentic Cantonese in the heart of Birmingham city centre. I've also had the pleasure of celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival in Birmingham's Chinatown with them which was a fun experience!
27. Las Iguanas

Another Latin American Restaurant and Bar I love to visit for a few cheeky cocktails and vegan burritos is Las Iguanas in Birmingham located at Temple Street, Arcadian Centre, BrindleyPlace and Resorts World Birmingham.
Las Iguanas have a bottomless brunch menu where you can choose a starter and a main with unlimited prosecco or draught beer from £24.95.
But if you upgrade for £5 you can add Mojitos and Caipirinhas to your drink options for an unforgettable liquid brunch.
28. Tattu

Another venue that’s perfect for Chinese food and cocktails is the Tattu Restaurant and Bar located on Barwick Street. It’s relatively new and has become a popular destination due to its Instagrammable interiors of floating pink flowers making it a unique dining experience to enjoy with the girls or on date night.
I visited on the opening night and somehow lost my photos so I only have the videos I captured for Instagram stories. I’ve been meaning to go back ever since.
29. Roxy Ball Room

Situated at Victoria Square, Roxy Ballroom is the place to go in the city centre for booze and games. Once you step inside, you'll be immediately transported to a vibrant, industrial-style atmosphere, complete with neon lights and graffiti walls that set the tone for an unforgettable experience.
As featured in my leisure activities in Birmingham post. Roxy Ball Room offers an extensive range of games and activities, suitable for a diverse audience. From traditional table games such as pool, beer pong and ping pong to unique twists like shuffleboard, basketball, karaoke, and a mini-bowling alley, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
To complement the gaming experience, Roxy Ballroom boasts an American-style menu with indulgent foods such as hotdogs, pizzas, wings, fries, and shareable platters. The well-stocked bar provides a selection of craft beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages to quench your thirst.
During our visit, we savoured the vegan mushroom & truffle pizza, alongside Roxy fries coated in BBQ seasoning and buffalo cauliflower bites. To accompany the food, we sipped on fruity cocktails, with the ‘Purple Haze’ containing Tanqueray gin, lychee, and lavender. As well as the ‘Blue Monday’ presented in a tin can consisting of gin, cloudy apple, blueberry, and lime.
While sipping our drinks we enjoyed an hour-long game of American pool, duck pin bowling, and shuffleboard in a laid-back atmosphere, complete with rock’n’roll music and overall positive vibes. So, whether you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or organise a corporate event, Roxy Ballroom offers various packages to suit your needs. Additionally, the venue boasts a photo booth to capture the memories.
To conclude, Roxy Ballroom Birmingham is the ultimate destination for those seeking a dynamic and exciting night out. With its energetic atmosphere, diverse gaming options, and mouth-watering food and drinks, it's the perfect place to unwind, connect with friends, and have a fun night out in Birmingham.
