The Botanist - Birmingham Cocktail Bar

unique food & cocktail bar in birmingham

Recently me and my friend came across this restaurant and cocktail bar when we were walking around Birmigham and decided we had to go in for a drink and a spot of lunch. The Botanist is new to Birmingham and has only been open for a few weeks, they also have bars in Leeds, Chester and Manchester etc (Visit website to see your nearest location). Our first impressions of The Botanist was 'wow' as the interior is stunning, there is so much attention to detail, every corner of the place just fits perfectly.

When we entered we asked for a table for two in the restaurant area and was told we had to wait for an hour at the bar, but that wasn't a problem as we managed to get seats at the bar and we ordered cocktails and sat back to watch the live music, which was a guy singing with a guitar, he sounded great. I had the blueberry and passion fruit martini and my friend had the passion fruit and basil crush. It was really interesting to sit and watch how all the different cocktails were made, it definitely adds to the experience and atmosphere.

We were only sitting at the bar for 20 minutes before we got called and taken to the restaurant which is hidden on the other side of the bar, which is good because it makes it more cosy as the bar side was absolutely packed at lunch time. I ordered a chicken burger which was delicious it came in a wooden box and my friend had the hanging kebab which looked great, you can choose from a selection of different meats.

For dessert I had the warm chocolate fudge cake which tasted amazing, and my friend had the strawberry and marshmallow kebab, the friendly waitress poured warm chocolate sauce down the kebab which looked delicious. I tried some of the marshmallows and they were warm a gooey, they were done perfectly and I could eat them now just thinking of it.

Overall, The Botanist is definitely a great place to visit if you want a buzzing atmosphere, tasty cocktails and amazingly prepared food. I was lucky enough to go back the following week before the place opened as I was invited to a blogger shoot for a summer look-book which was taking place in there, so I managed to take some extra photos of the interior with it being empty which was fun.
