Places To Eat The Best Sunday Roasts In Birmingham

A week after the Malmaison Hotel beauty, food and cocktails event, I was kindly invited to the Malmaison Hotel inBirmingham to experience their new summer ‘Club Tropicana’ ice-creams on a Sunday afternoon with my plus one. While we were there we also got to indulge in a complimentary three course meal from their Sunday Lunch Menu.

We were impressed that their Sunday Lunch Menu priced at just £19.95 for three courses comes with an all you can eat starter. So, I demolished a bowl of salad, slaw, baby potatoes, peppers and some amazing crotons that I went crazy for at the event last week. I enjoyed the starter so much that I would happily go there just to eat it as a main.

My plus one went with the roast chicken dinner with a supersized Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes cooked to perfection, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

While I had the Mushroom burger meal with fries. I loved how the burger was topped with jalapeño marmalade sauce, a big juicy tomato and a flat pepper. The dipping sauce was gorgeous too. I’m really picky when it comes to veggie burgers so this mushroom based one didn’t blow me away but definitely comes into my top five vegetarian burgers.

And finally, the afternoon ended with sharing two ‘Club Tropicana’ ice-creams. The 'Coconut Crush' with black coconut ice-cream served in a half coconut shell on crushed ice and the 'Pico Grande' with pina colada ice-cream served in a baby pineapple with glace cherries, cream & kirsch.

These were fantastic as you can see from the effort put into creating them, a mouthful of black ice-cream topped with cream and some chocolate balls were definitely the highlight of the brain-freezing dessert options.

It was the first time I had ever dined in Chez Mal Brasserie and loved the buzzing atmosphere, live acoustic set and neon lighting. On the Sunday, it was popular with hen parties staying over at the hotel. The staff were very attentive and friendly too, even though they were rushed off their feet.

It was pretty loud because of the hen parties so if you’re going to visit for food & drink you may want to go during the week if you want to dine in a quieter restaurant. However, the £19.95 three course meals with an all you can eat starter is something you should definitely not miss out on.

Besides from the tropical paradise dessert, I’m totally food-dreaming over this delicious salad starter I had.
