I stayed at this grand ski hotel in Brasov for one night during a 2-week press trip travelling around Romania. I wish I could have stayed longer to experience its many facilities. But I will certainly be visiting one of Romania’s best hotels again when I travel to Transylvania in the future. Especially for skiing the slopes.

Have a read of my experience and watch the video at the end to see if this 4* star hotel accommodation in Romania is for you.

Upon entering the Telerific Grand Hotel, I immediately felt at home. A comforting atmosphere is created through the warmth of the wood furnishings, evoking the feeling of staying at your very own ski lodge.

With substantial windows stretching around the lobby, it couldn't have been easier to enjoy the scenic woodland views and paradisal mountain surroundings while staying cosy inside.

The hotel is home to a luxurious spa, fully equipped with beauty treatments, a delightful indoor swimming pool, a dry, wet, and infrared sauna, a hair studio, and an exceptional fitness centre.

What more could you ask for? You can unwind by the poolside after trying out a spa treatment or head out for a day on the ski slopes while keeping the kids entertained in the indoor gaming hall or at the hotel's kids club.

The hotel's cosy atmosphere continued as I entered my room for the night. I stayed solo in a standard double with twin beds and a balcony. Complete with solid wood lodge features and minimal furnishings, the combination of rustic living and contemporary style was clear.

In the centre of the room were two pristine single beds. As well as a desk located next to the doors of the balcony. The desk is perfect if you’re working remotely and need to get tasks completed during your trip but still want to feel close to the wilderness and enjoy the woodland views that the balcony offers. Helping you feel like you’re not missing out while working.

The room was perfect for a short break, coming with all the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay. This included free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, coffee and tea-making facilities, a minibar, air conditioning, individual temperature control and a safe box.

To ensure guests have a great night's sleep after a long day on the slopes, the room also features blackout curtains, a 7cm high cotton topper made of goose feathers and Hypoallergenic pillows.

The first-floor positioning of my room meant I was right in the heart of the resort, and able to appreciate the beauty of the environment, surrounded by looming green trees. This was wonderful when waking up in the morning, allowing me to step outside onto the balcony and admire this peaceful retreat.

It was my first time staying in a ski chalet resort-style lodge and it certainly won’t be my last. I loved being surrounded by the trees it felt very calming. Which is just what you need when you are on vacation.

The luxury en-suite bathroom

The en-suite bathroom was spacious, which emphasised the luxurious feel of the accommodation. Next to the colossal mirror was a spotless walk-in shower and hairdryer, plus a variety of complimentary toiletries for guests to use.

Perhaps the best element of the bathroom is the cosy underfloor heating. Walking on it would feel lovely when visiting in Winter while enjoying a refreshing warm shower after a chilly day on the slopes and wrapping yourself up in the snug bathrobe and slippers before getting into bed to watch TV with a hot chocolate drink from the tea and coffee facilities provided in the room.

There are also soft white cotton towels and electronic scales in the en-suite bathroom if you fancy weighing yourself, something I’ve not seen in a hotel before but may come in useful during your trip.

While getting ready for the day ahead the bathrooms lighting and the room’s long length mirror with plugs nearby was handy.

The outdoor jacuzzi is surrounded by picturesque woodland

Guests can get the full ski vacation experience in the hotel's outside jacuzzi. Situated right in the middle of the Poiana Brasov ski resort, the hot tub allows you to unwind in a true winter wonderland. Feel at peace surrounded by the flourishing green trees reaching high into the sky near the picturesque mountains.

Enjoying a dip in the jacuzzi makes for a wonderful experience, allowing you to have an unforgettable moment as you relax in the wilderness.

If you're staying at the hotel and fancy trying out some adrenaline-inducing activities in the mountains, you can visit the hotel’s rental centre where you can get ski and snowboard equipment ready for some fun on the slopes. The cable car to the top of the mountain is nearby too.

If you're travelling with younger children, the outdoor playground makes the hotel perfect for all ages to visit helping to keep them entertained while you relax and enjoy the spa’s pampering services. Or bring them along to enjoy the many winter and summer experiences that can be had nearby. Such as horse riding, off-road driving, biking, snowmobile and ATV rides or tubing and sledging.

Plus, there are plenty of things to see and do in Brasov if you’re seeking day trip activities in Transylvania.

Breakfast at 4 Seasons restaurant

After waking up and looking out onto my balcony to see the swaying of the lush green trees, I headed down to have some breakfast at the hotel's 4 Seasons buffet and à la carte restaurant. Served from 7 am to 10:30 am, the breakfast has plenty for you to choose from.

Combining traditional, Romanian, Austrian and international cuisines, the menu proved to be extensive and cater to many tastes. Although if your vegan or vegetarian dining anywhere in Romania can be slightly limited so bear that in mind. So as a veggie the breakfast options for me at the time weren’t the best which was disappointing.

As well as being home to the 4 Seasons restaurant, you can experience fine dining at the Coroana Gourmet restaurant. And, if you want to have a cocktail while admiring the 360 views of the beautiful resort, head on over to one of the bars – the Grand Lobby Café bar, the Après Ski Bar, the Spa Bar or even the hotel's very own club, the Telerific Arena Nightclub.

Once you’ve started the day off with a hearty breakfast, you're ready for a day on the slopes or sightseeing in the medieval city of Brasov. You’ll be spoilt for a choice of things to do in Romania’s biggest and most luxurious mountain resort.

The accommodation was truly unlike any other, allowing you to experience the beauty of the wilderness while unwinding in the comfort of your room and enjoying the many onsite and off-site experiences nearby.

Let me know if you fancy hitting the slopes while staying at this hotel. It is a resort I’d love to visit again for a longer vacation so that I could experience its many facilities and of course its dreamy wonderland destination in the snow.
