Best Boutique Hotels and Serviced Apartment Airbnb's in Bucharest

If you're looking for a luxurious stay in Bucharest, I’m here to help. During my summer road trip to cities in Romania, I visited this Eastern European gem a few times. I, therefore, had the chance to experience a range of accommodations, each more impressive than the last.

In this guide, I'll share my top picks for the best places to stay, including upmarket chains, cosy independent boutiques, and serviced apartments perfect for extended stays. Additionally, I'll recommend the most desirable areas to ensure you're near all the must-see sights and activities.

So, whether you're visiting for business or leisure, this list of luxury places to stay will assist you in locating the ideal accommodation in Bucharest for an extraordinary visit.

Serviced Apartments in Bucharest

When staying in Bucharest, those seeking comfort and convenience should choose a serviced apartment. Based on my experience, serviced apartments offer supreme flexibility that traditional hotels don't. They cater to short-term and extended visits, making them ideal for various travellers, from business executives to families exploring the city at their leisure.

The primary advantage of renting a serviced apartment is feeling at home away from home. These flats have roomy living rooms, fully functional kitchens, and often private laundry facilities. This provides a more personalised stay and offers significant savings on dining out. The added space is handy for those travelling with children or in groups, providing a place to relax and unwind after sightseeing in Bucharest.

Moreover, serviced apartments in Bucharest are frequently located in prime areas, ensuring you're always within easy reach of the city's active business hubs, superb dining and entertainment options, and cultural landmarks. The combination of luxury, location, and home-like amenities makes serviced apartments a top accommodation choice in Bucharest.

1. Stylish 2BR Vilacrosse Passage Netflix

One standout serviced apartment is the stylish 2BR Vilacrosse Passage—Netflix. This luxurious independent Airbnb is an exceptional choice for anyone seeking an extraordinary stay in Bucharest. Located in the heart of the city, just a kilometre from the picturesque Cismigiu Gardens and a short distance from the National Museum of Art of Romania, this accommodation stands out among other options. Its proximity to the Patriarchal Cathedral and the city centre also puts guests in the middle of the best cultural experiences and historical sites that can be seen in Romania.

This two-bedroom, one-bath apartment can accommodate up to five guests and has air conditioning and a lift for easy access. It is equipped with essential appliances such as an oven and a toaster, while the fully equipped kitchen and cable flat-screen TV will provide a comfortable stay. Towels and bed linen are provided to add to the overall convenience of the accommodation, and this non-smoking environment ensures a clean and fresh living space.

What makes this accommodation truly exceptional, however, is the recognition it has received. With currently over 46 five-star reviews, it is celebrated as one of the most beloved homes on Airbnb. Self-check-in through a lock box and the exceptional hospitality provided by Camelia, a Superhost with a decade of hosting experience, enhance the guest experience and ensure you’ll have a top-notch visit.

Recent guests have collectively agreed on the location's excellence, rating it five stars for its convenience to local attractions like Revolution Square, the Romanian National Opera, and the Romanian Athenaeum. Therefore, this accommodation is ideally situated for guests to explore the city.

Additionally, with the nearest airport, Băneasa Airport, just 9 km away, this modern accommodation in the centre of the old town represents the epitome of luxurious and convenient accommodation in Bucharest, tailor-made for an impressive stay. Being located next to the iconic Macca-Vilacrosse Passage, considered one of the best places to visit in Bucharest, thanks to its incredible architecture, you’ll experience the city to its fullest at this highly desirable and stylish vacation rental in Bucharest.

Its gorgeous Instagramable interior design and contemporary features, such as a plush sofa, sleek kitchen, beautifully laid dining table, walk-in shower, and stylish black heated towel rail, make it the perfect place to stay if you're seeking an upscale, cosy place to relax during your visit to the city.

Tips for Booking Accommodation in Bucharest

When planning a trip to Bucharest, starting your accommodation search early is necessary, especially during peak tourist seasons. The best places to stay in the city often get booked up quickly, but if you're booking a last-minute trip during the off-season, you shouldn’t find it difficult to score the best place to stay.

Another important consideration when choosing accommodation in Bucharest is your itinerary. It is advisable to select a location that minimises travel time. For instance, if you are interested in exploring the historical sights, staying in or near the Old Town, such as at the stylish 2BR Vilacrosse Passage, could save you a lot of commuting time. This can also enhance the overall experience of your visit.

Before booking, it is essential to read reviews from previous guests. These reviews can provide insight into the hotel's cleanliness, safety, and quality of customer service. Guest experiences can make or break your stay, so it is essential to consider these factors.

Checking for amenities that are important to you is also vital. Whether it is free Wi-Fi, breakfast included, or access to a swimming pool, confirming these details before booking can help you avoid disappointment. Usually, I check to see if breakfast is included, as it is an essential start to my day. However, as Romania has a lot of meaty dishes, I did find eating vegan difficult when I visited, especially when eating hotel breakfasts and dining out; therefore, on future visits to the city, I’d prefer to stay at a serviced apartment, so that I can cook my own food and safe money in the process.

When booking accommodation, one should also look for deals and promotions. Signing up for newsletters or following your preferred hotels or accommodation booking sites on social media can alert you to special offers and save you money on travel. Last-minute deals have sometimes allowed me to stay in places that would otherwise be out of my budget.

When making a booking, it is often beneficial to contact the accommodation directly for any special requests. Direct communication can usually yield better results, whether it's a room on a higher floor for a better view or arranging a surprise for a companion. A simple phone call can sometimes get you perks unavailable through third-party booking sites.

Finally, alternative accommodation options such as serviced apartments or boutique hotels are worth considering for a unique experience. In addition, staying in a serviced apartment allows you to experience the local way of life more freely, engage with the locals and discover hidden gems and recommendations that only the locals know of.

These places can offer a more personalised stay and are often equipped with facilities that make your visit more comfortable and memorable. This is especially true if, like me, you are a digital nomad seeking somewhere to stay for a week or more. You want the convenience of a kitchen and dining table, doing your laundry on-site, and having a spacious place to work remotely.

To conclude

Bucharest offers a unique and wide variety of lodging options that cater to diverse preferences and tastes, one of the many reasons to visit Romania. The city has luxurious five-star hotels, fully equipped serviced apartments, and attractive boutique rooms, each promising a distinctive experience near the city's top sightseeing, entertainment and food and drink places.

Choosing suitable accommodation can significantly enhance your stay, providing ample opportunities to indulge in Bucharest's cultural, historical, and contemporary attractions. With my recommendations and tips, you can make an informed decision and enjoy an exceptional stay in Romania's fascinating capital.
