Beauty Christmas Gift Guide

Christmas is almost upon us, so this week I had to brave the cold and get some Christmas shopping done as every year I leave it till the last minute. Luckily for me, The Fort Shopping Centre offered to help me out by gifting me with a £100 gift card to search for Christmas gifts for my family. However, this was no usual shopping trip, The Fort geared me up with a Garmin Vivofit 3 to track my activity while I shopped.

The Fort Theory of Shopping campaign

The Fort is conducting research on how people shop and their experience’s, so I was happy to take part. I arrived at The Fort at 6 pm on a Friday with my sister. To begin tracking my activity I pressed start on the Garmin the moment I stepped out of the car and then began my shopping spree. When I do go shopping I usually have products in mind and know exactly where I’m going to get them, to save time and effort. Sometimes, I do a little price comparison online to find out where the best deals are so that I can pick up a good deal instore.

We parked by Next, so I had a quick browse in a few shops as we made our way round to Boots. I tend to shop better alone as I’m more productive, focused and faster so my sister and I split up as we searched the large Boots store at The Fort. They have a fantastic selection of 3 for 2 gift sets so I went down every aisle to search for the best beauty sets for my family. I’m very indecisive so I found myself having to hold several gifts up to decide which one is the best to get, in terms of cost, quantity and quality.

Once I made my mind up, it was time to search the makeup aisle for myself. I had a hand full of swatches as I tried to figure out what shades I liked best, to wear over the festive season. In Boots, the brands Maxfactor, Soap & Glory, Revlon and Bourjois all have free makeup gift sets when you spend £15 or more. So, as I felt like the Maxfactor free gift was better in terms of what you got, I decided to spend the £15 on them as it worked out to be the best offer.

After Boots, I popped into Topshop, River Island and then met my sister in Primark to look at the pyjamas together – and that was it we made our way back to the car and I pressed stop on the Garmin.

Our shopping spree lasted 1 hour and 36 minutes, I did 3114 steps and burnt 159 calories. Now onto what I bought with the £100 Christmas Gift shopping challenge!

Maxfactor Party essentials

‘The perfect party look essentials’ gift bag worth £39 was free when you spend £15 or more on all Maxfactor makeup in Boots. It was the gold sparkly bag that caught my eye at first, inside you get four full size products containing the False lash epic mascara in black, Masterpiece high precision liquid eyeliner in black onyx, Lipfinity long lasting lipstick in so luxuriant and the Smooth Miracle Primer. To get the free gift I bought the Maxfactor Face Finity all day flawless 3 in 1 foundation and the Pan Stik, a concealer I haven’t used in ages, so I thought I’d get it as it does work well to hide dark circles and imperfections. The foundation has an SPF 20, which is essential to keep your face protected from sun damage to prevent early signs of ageing. I also like how the foundation is a primer, concealer and foundation in one so its great for those days your running late and don’t have time to do your full base routine.

NO7 Anti-ageing gift set for her

The No7 anti-ageing gift set was £30 in the Boots 3 for 2 offer, I picked it for my Mom, although I’m a big fan of No7 myself as you may know from my previous post's ‘A cult beauty serum’, ‘No7 Primer, Foundation & Makeup base’ and ‘No7 Gradual Face tan’, so I was tempted to buy this for myself too. My Mom loves No7, she receives a gift set every year for Christmas, so I know she’ll be really happy with this. The set contains No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Day Cream 25ml with an SPF 15, the cult beauty favourite Advanced Serum 30ml, Night Cream 25ml, Eye Cream 5ml, Beautiful Skin hot cloth cleanser 50ml and a muslin face cloth. It’s the perfect Christmas gift set for mature women, as it provides them with all their skincare needs in one!

Sanctuary Spa Bath time pamper set for her

The gift I got free in the Boots 3 for 2 offer was the Sanctuary Spa body set for £20. I picked this out for my auntie as I know she loves a good pamper session on a Sunday evening. The must have body treats set contains the Wet skin moisture miracle 200ml, body wash 250ml, body scrub 50ml, luxury bath float 75ml and body lotion 75ml. The new and improved Sanctuary Spa range contains vitamin E and is infused with argan oil to leave the skin feeling soft, moisturised and smelling great!

Jack Wills Hair & Body wash set for him

Every year I get my Dad a shaving, body wash & spray gift set, usually by Lynx as it’s the easiest thing to buy him, because I know he’ll use it, unlike gadgets and books I’ve bought him in the past. I spotted this lovely Jack Wills gift box, so I thought I’d get that for a change, as I buy him Lynx every year. It was £25 in the 3 for 2 and contains two body sprays 150ml, two hair & body washes 200ml and a post shave balm 75ml.

Nicky Clarke Salon Pro hair straightners

For £19.99 I bought the Nicky Clarke Hair Therapy Salon Pro ceramic hair straighteners. They contain tourmaline & ceramic technology to help make hair softer and easier to style. The straighteners are for myself to keep at my boyfriend’s, so I don’t have to keep packing my other pair, as I tend to forget them and be without!

Hopefully, this post has given you a little help if you’ve left your shopping until the last minute like me. The large Boots at The Fort have a fantastic selection of 3 for 2, I'm looking forward to visiting again when they are reduced after Christmas!
