Woodland Luxury Cabin Breaks & Forest Staycation Holidays in UK

Upon my return from Ibiza, I embarked on a 4-night UK staycation with my family to Center Parcs Woburn Forest, located only an hour's drive away from London. Although I had previously visited Center Parcs at their Sherwood Forest location back in 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it, I was excited to check out the new Woburn site, which had only been open for a little over a year.

The modernity of the Woburn location was impressive, especially in comparison to the slightly outdated Sherwood Forest lodge we had stayed in during my previous visit. However, both locations were equally enjoyable, packed with exciting activities and amenities for guests to indulge in.

Upon collecting our keys, we swiftly unpacked the car and settled into our New Style Executive Lodge, complete with an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. Although our hurried unpacking prevented me from capturing the perfect photograph, the lodge's luxurious interior was still apparent.

All bedrooms were equipped with en-suites and even had dressing tables for guests to pamper themselves. The self-catering holiday also included all the necessary kitchen facilities, providing guests with ultimate comfort and convenience.

Our peaceful slumber was ensured by the serene forest surroundings and daily maid service. To get around the area, we hired bikes for a small fee. Although the cost of a stay at Center Parcs may vary depending on the size of the lodge and time of year, it was well worth the money, especially for a group of three couples and a child like us.

Each room also had its own television, while the open plan living room had a larger one. Guests could also enjoy al fresco dining, sauna, an outside shower, and even a BBQ.

Tips for Visiting Centre Parcs for the First Time

To fully enjoy your Centre Parcs visit, consider these tips:

  • Plan Activities Ahead of Time: From sports to spa treatments, Centre Parcs offers a variety of activities. Visit their website or app to book activities and dining options in advance and secure your preferred time slots.
  • Pack Accordingly: As you will likely spend time outdoors, ensure that you bring appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities. Also, bring a torch as it can get very dark in the woods at night.
  • Explore the Facilities: Take time to explore the various facilities available at Centre Parcs, such as swimming pools, sports areas, and nature trails. Each location has unique features, so do not miss out on discovering what they offer.
  • Bring Supplies: Consider bringing groceries or snacks if you prefer cooking your meals or want to have provisions readily available in your accommodation. Most Centre Parcs have on-site supermarkets, but having essentials with you can be convenient. Make full use of the self-catering facilities as dining on-site can be costly. Additionally, check out restaurant menus beforehand to ensure they cater to your dietary requirements.
  • Take Time to Relax: With so much to do, do not forget to relax! Make time to unwind, whether it's at the spa, taking leisurely walks, or enjoying the natural surroundings. Make sure to use the sauna, BBQ, and alfresco table and chairs that come with your accommodation too.
  • Activities for All Ages: Centre Parcs caters to different age groups, so ensure there are activities suitable for everyone in your group. Whether it's kids' clubs, family activities, or adult-focused experiences, prioritise activities that interest you most.
  • Arrive Early, Depart Late: Many facilities are available from the morning of your arrival until the evening of departure. Arriving early and leaving late helps you make the most of your time there, but be aware that there may be a queue of cars upon arrival.
  • Budgeting: Plan your budget for additional activities and dining beyond your accommodation costs. Prioritise activities and experiences that interest you most to manage expenses.
  • Stay Flexible: Weather or unexpected changes can influence plans. Have a backup plan or be ready to adjust your schedule if needed.

Remember that each Centre Parcs experience is unique, so tailor your visit to your preferences and enjoy a fantastic time!
