Not so long ago I received an exclusive invite from Harvey Nichols to attend the launch of Rihanna’s new Fenty makeup range. At 7am I made my way into Harvey Nichols Birmingham, to preview the collection with local beauty bloggers and press.

Upon arrival we were greeted with smoothies and a Fenty wristband before slowly making our way around the Fenty counter, where we swatched, snapped and hash-tagged our hearts out. After the exciting preview we were then treated to breakfast, where we got to sit back with our avocado on toast to chat all about the highly anticipated range.

The 40 shades of foundation

The Fenty collection consists of 40 inclusive foundation shades, so there’s a shade to match all skin tones – in fact Fenty are leading the way when it comes to providing a shade for all. The Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (£26) has been created to give skin an instantly smooth, pore-diffused, shine-free finish that can be easily built up to provide medium to full coverage. The oil-free formula is resistant to humidity, sweat and wont clog pores and although its longwearing it won’t feel cakey or heavy.

You’ll find a Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer among badgalriri’s impressive beauty drop (£24). The primer comes in a universal invisipink shade that blurs all skin tones as it melts into the skin to create a matte oil-free base to ensure your foundation not only goes on better but stays put for longer.

The Match Stix's

Most celebrity endorsed cosmetics, include lip kits and nail varnishes with their name simply stamped on. But not Rihanna, it’s evident that she has worked hard on this collection and has made it her own, from her trademark glossy lips and killer radiance. The full collection consists of 40 foundations, 1 primer, 1 universal lip gloss, 6 powder highlighters, 1 universal matte powder, blotting paper, sponges, brushes, 10 shimmering highlighting sticks and 20 shades of matte contouring sticks.

The Match Stix Matte Skinstick’s (£21) have been created to conceal, correct and contour. The cream-to-powder formula is weightless and makes creating killer cheek bones effortless, the match stix’s are also easy to blend using the Contour & Concealer Brush 150. The Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick’s come in a variety of shades, including red, orange and purple – confetti is my favourite (the purple one)! All match stix’s come in magnetized packaging so they can stick together in your makeup bag.

The Highlighters

To get RiRi’s trademark glow, the singer has dropped the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter – the highlighter that got everyone obsessing on launch day was Trophy Wife , its 3D hyper-metallic gold is gorgeous and will make you feel like a goddess. It can be worn for a subtle day glow or supercharged for night – or simply opt for killer radiance all day long. Apply to face, eyes, lips and collarbone for an all-over glow.

Trophy Wife and Metal Moon are available as Killawatt solos, and highlighters such as ginger binge & Moscow mule and lightning dust & fire crystal are available as killawatt duos for £26.

My Fenty Face Makeover

After the launch I was invited back to Harvey Nichols to get matched up for a Fenty Face makeover. The Fenty MUA applied one pump of Pro Filt’r instant retouch primer to the centre of my face and blended it outwards to create a smooth pore-diffusing base. She then applied 1 pump of Pro Filt’r soft matte longwear foundation in shades 120 and 140 on the back of her hands and used the full-bodied foundation brush 110 to dot the foundation onto the centre of my face and then blended it outwards. To achieve a fuller coverage, she then applied another pump. To conceal, correct and contour she used the match stix’s in shades starstruck, mocha & linen by drawing them onto the face and using her fingers to blend, this helps to warm up the product for a soft matte base. To complete the look, she used the Killawatt freestyle highlighter duo in ginger binge & moscow mule and applied the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer .

Overall, I’m really impressed with the range, I love that there’s something for everyone, its affordable and perfect for those with oily skin like myself. I was really pleased with the Fenty Face makeover, the coverage was great at hiding my dark circles that day and I really liked the contouring and rose nude shade lip gloss. When buying the foundation, I would recommend getting matched up first and maybe go a shade or two lighter as the foundation did look a lot darker on me once I got outside in natural light.

Disclaimer: A big thank you to Seen Group and Harvey Nichols for the exclusive press invite. I received a complimentary makeover and Fenty products. All photos and words are my own.
