Despite the slightly higher-end price tag, Caudalie's Vegan Collagen Resveratrol Lift works wonders, magically transforming your skin into the personification of luxury making the cost more than worthwhile.

Suitable for normal, dry, or sensitive skin types, the Collagen Lift is perfect for those seeking an age-rewind product that stands up to its claims. The infusion of the plant compound resveratrol is recognised for its ability to fight the threat of ageing skin and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles after just a few uses.

And it's made even better with vegan ingredients.

Caudalie is a staple brand in most French women's skincare routines and has produced products that have become cult classics in the country's booming beauty industry. Sian Victoria © - Lierac Hydragenist skincare range

Founded in 1974, dermo-cosmetic brand Lierac was developed in laboratories and creates innovative skincare products specialising in anti-ageing skin problems and promoting the natural radiance and beauty of healthy skin. With almost all products being suitable for vegans through formulations made naturally and paraben-free, those with sensitive skin can utilise products created by this ingenious company and feel the benefits without fear of irritation.

The award-winning Hydragenist range of products by Lierac have hydration at the heart of their skincare claims, harnessing components to oxygenate the skin to encourage the activation of skin cells. The £30 luxury Moisturising Serum within this range can be applied morning and night. With the high concentration of vitamins and minerals within its composition, this product has age-rewind qualities by promoting the oxygenation of skin cells and smoothing out fine lines to restore youthfulness, with hyaluronic acid replenishing skin with much-needed hydration and moisture.

The Hydragenist range is ideal when seeking truly radiant and glowing skin that brings back the fresh, youthful appearance that can be lost with ageing. In particular, the smoothing eye gel formula helps to smooth out fine lines with an anti-puffiness effect, while continuing to boost hydration and nourishment with oxygen components and a variety of minerals and vitamins specifically designed to promote the health of skin with cellular oxygenation. 16. Novexpert

Sian Victoria © - Laboratoires Novexpert Paris Skincare

The brand I can’t recommend highly enough and should certainly be a top contender to consider adding to your skincare regime is Novexpert. Their HQ is a research centre run by scientists who formulate high concentrations of active ingredients from 100% natural origin so that they are effective while also being safe for those with sensitive skin and pregnant women.

Studies have shown our skin absorbs the cosmetics we apply to our skin and the ingredients can be found polluting our bloodstream, urine, and breast milk. It’s difficult to say how long these chemicals stay in our bodies and what damaging effects these toxic molecules can do on us, some studies show they are hormone-changing and cancer-causing.

For this reason, the scientists at Novexpert avoid using certain chemicals in their skincare formulas and use only biodegradable ingredients that are vegan and cruelty-free so you can be confident knowing your skincare is safer to use than most cosmetics in the industry while also being more effective as they contain more active ingredients and no added extras such as allergens that can cause hypersensitive skin.

Two holy-grail products I’ve used and quickly noticed a difference in the appearance and texture of my skin are the Booster Serum with Hyaluronic Acid and Booster with Vitamin C. Both items are made in France and formulated by doctors. The HA promotes firmer and smoother skin while the Vitamin C reduces free radicals and encourages a radiant complexion.

17. Lancaster

Sian Victoria © - Lancaster Sun Beauty

The premium Sun Beauty range from the brand Lancaster is a great choice if you’re seeking luxury skincare. With clean formulas that are respectful to the skin, coral reefs, and oceans and mindful of plastic consumption it’s a brand to consider adding to your upscale beauty routine.

Founded in 1946, Lancaster is a cosmetics company made in Monaco on the border of France so they’re not exactly a French brand. However, they are owned by Coty Inc. which is a French American multinational beauty company and France is one of their biggest stockists. It was while wandering duty-free in Paris Airport that I first discovered Lancaster beauty products as I was choosing sun lotion ahead of staying at the beach resort Hotel Marinca.

Lancaster is best known for its sun care range although they do have anti-ageing, cleansing and skin repair products too. Their dedicated Sun Beauty range is formulated for those with sensitive skin, a ‘sports’ collection for those always on the go and products for those wanting to bake in the sunshine, glow, accelerate and maintain their tan.

Their Sublime Tan Face Cream is available in an SPF 15, 30 and 50 so there’s a level of sun protection that’s suitable for your needs. The creamy lightweight and non-greasy formula absorb quickly and without leaving behind any white traces that can often be experienced with facial SPF lotions.

To conclude

And there we have it. Some of the best French cosmetic brands that perfectly encapsulate the meaning of effortless beauty, producing incredible skin, hair and body products that can't be flawed. Let me know in the comments if there are any more brands, I should try. If they stand true to their claims, they’ll be added to this list.
