Vichy Mineral 89 Serum
The daily skin booster enriched with 15 skin loving minerals
You may have spotted thermal water skincare becoming a beauty must-have over the past year or so. Thermal water comes from deep underground and becomes naturally rich in minerals as it makes its way through rocks. I’ve been a fan of water-based skincare products since swimming in the hot springs in Santorini last summer, it made a big difference to my skin during the holiday, so much so that I would have loved to have bottled it up to take home with me to bathe in.
A water based serum I have been sent recently is the Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Booster Serum . It contains Hyaluronic Acid and claims to strengthen your skins barrier, hydrate and plump your skin with moisture while providing a protective shield against pollution.
Overall, thermal water is known to have many skincare benefits, from soothing sore inflamed itchy skin, healing burns and hydrating dry skin to being the perfect solution for those with sensitive skin like rosacea and acne prone skin.
The Vichy Mineral 89 serum is made up of just 11 ingredients. The main ingredient is 89% thermal water from the French volcanos, making it naturally rich in 15 skin loving minerals. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid which can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water, so it acts like a sponge to drench the skin, to keep it hydrated and plump. The other ingredients are there to thicken the consistency of the serum and to stop it from spoiling, as you can imagine it would be a watery mess without it.
The serum has a clear gel like consistency. I use two pumps of it on my fingers which covers my face and half my neck. It melts into the skin quickly and leaves no residue, which I love! because I have an oily to combination skin type, so this doesn’t add any greasy feeling to my skin after application. It’s also lightweight so it doesn’t feel like you have any product on your face. In terms of hydration the Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Booster Serum has given my skin a moisture boost as my face feels a lot softer and less tight.
The instructions do say to use it as your first step along with your usual skincare routine so you may want to use it to add to your existing regime to give your skin an extra hit of hydration. Although, while I’ve been testing it I’ve used it instead of my usual moisturiser, so my daily routine has been face wash, toner, Vichy serum and primer before applying makeup. I’ve not felt like I’ve needed to add another moisturiser or serum on top of the Vichy serum, so it just depends on you and your skin and what works for you.
Overall, I would recommend this product to those with sensitive skin as it doesn’t have many ingredients – its 89% water and fragrance-free so it shouldn’t irritate the skin. I would also recommend it to people with oily blemish prone skin like myself because it’s lightweight and non-greasy so wont clog pores. Either way if your skin is in need of a hydration boost, especially over the autumn-winter than its a must-have.
