A cult beauty serum
No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum - review
"Boots’ No 7 Protect & Perfect serum is one of the greatest beauty success stories ever" says the Daily Mail.
The women in my family have been using the No7 Skincare range since it came out in 2007. There are four types of serums and creams that are recommended depending on the age range you fall into. This Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum is for 30 - 45 year old skin, my mom originally got me into using it, I used hers a few times a couple of years ago and have then brought it myself ever since as I love how soft it makes my skin. I should really use the 'Early Defence' which is recommended for women aged 20-35, but when I first started using it I never knew about the age recommendations for the product range.
My Nan who is in her mid 70's often shocks people when she tells them her age, as she has always looked after her skin and has been applying this religiously since it came out so it must work because she looks great for her age and so does my mom.
The No7 serums and creams contain Matrixyl which is a powerful anti-ageing ingredient, it also contains hyaluronic acid which firms and moisturises the skin. The serum helps protect the skin from environmental stress and helps preserve levels of collagen in the skin, plus it contains Vitamin A and C.
There is also a day and night cream, I have used them both once but prefer to use the serum before bed as it has a silkier feel and for day time I use a mattifying cream instead. I apply a generous amount of serum to my face after a wash, it makes my skin feel really silky, I then rub my hands so some of the left over serum makes my hands soft too. Your hands age first so I always think its important to use hand-creams during the day then apply a bit of this to them at night before bed.
You do have to apply a generous amount to ensure you have a good coverage paying attention to the skin around your eyes and forehead, I also rub it in down my neck too, in the hope to delay any signs of ageing. For a 30ml tube it costs £24.95 which really is worth the price as it has been proven to work, although the tube doesn't last long, I get through one tube a month.
