International Exchange Camp - UIP 2016 - Chengdu, China
This summer I was lucky enough to spend two weeks exploring and studying in Chengdu, China. So follow my journey in a series of travel diary posts, to read all about the amazing thing's I got to see and do...
Mid-June and July were very busy months for me. I spent 10 days in Las Vegas and then came back for two days, sorted my washing, caught up with work and then traveled for 24hrs to get to Chengdu, China. I flew with KLM and China Southern Airlines, with two transfers, Birmingham - Amsterdam - Guangzhou - Chengdu.
I was lucky enough to be picked by Birmingham City University to do the University Immersion Program (UIP) at the Sichuan University in Chengdu for two weeks, with 10 other British students. After the long journey, I was greeted at the airport by two lovely Chinese volunteers who were also students. For the first couple of days, we all stayed at the 7 days hotel and then moved to a 3* hotel down the road called the Haoanyi Hotel.
We would spend our free days exploring China's fascinating culture by going on day trips and spent other days in the classroom learning how to write calligraphy and paint traditional style paintings.
The experience was fantastic, and traveling alone and being with people I had never met before was great and really helped me to step outside my comfort zone. I'm really glad I did the University Immersion Program, and I really hope you enjoy watching my rather long 17-minute video, showing you everything we got up to during the two weeks in Chengdu. I'm going to be posting a few posts over the next couple of days, with lots of photos and more detail about the visits and what I got up to. So if you enjoyed the video, please give it a thumbs up, or maybe even follow as I am traveling somewhere else special this month so I will be doing a video for that too that I would love for you to see.
