Rising Cafe: Review of The Vintage Tea Room at Coventry Cathedral

Independent & Social Enterprise Food Places in Coventry, Midlands

Upon spending the night watching Cougar the Musical at the Belgrade Theatre my friend, who is also a West Midlands blogger, and I embarked on a mission to find a cosy spot to indulge in a delectable breakfast.

We strolled through Coventry city centre, perusing our options, and stumbled upon a notice board pointing us towards the Rising Cafe. As we made our way towards the cathedral, and stepped inside this charming eatery, our expectations were surpassed the moment we walked in.

Every corner was adorned with vintage furniture, enchanting trinkets, and tasteful lighting that accentuated the stunning features of the cafe. The music was of a bygone era, and the waitresses were decked out in vintage pinny and hair ties. Being ardent lovers of all things vintage, my friend and I could not help but revel in the atmosphere, and decided to settle into the upcycled leather seats, and order both breakfast and dessert.

To our pleasant surprise, we later discovered that all the proceeds of the cafe are dedicated to charity and support previously homeless and substance-addicted men and women. This noble cause made our experience at the Rising Cafe all the more meaningful and extraordinary.

We enjoyed a hearty breakfast of eggs with toast, accompanied by a bottle of water, a cup of cappuccino, and a pot of tea, followed by an Oreo dessert and a giant cookie, all for a nominal price of approximately £11. The food and drink was prepared fresh and tasted great, and the customer service was nothing short of wonderful. The ambience had a distinct retro vibe that we thoroughly enjoyed, and we cannot wait to return.

The Oreo dessert, in particular, was nothing short of heavenly, with its luscious layers of chocolate sauce, freshly whipped cream, and crumbled Oreo biscuits. I'll certainly be recreating this chocolate recipe. The poached eggs and brown seeded bread were also delectable, made exactly the way we preferred them. An added bonus was the complimentary Wi-Fi, which allowed us to indulge in some Instagram food photography and online work while relishing the dessert.

After our meal, we set out to explore Coventry. If you ever find yourself in the city, we strongly urge you to visit the Rising Cafe, as it is a splendid place with a heart-warming cause.
