Rising Cafe - Coventry Cathedral

1940's Style Vintage Tea Room

After a night at the Belgrade Theatre me and my friend where searching for a place to have breakfast, we walked around the city centre and came across a notice board suggesting the Rising Cafe so we followed directions nearby the cathedral and walked into the cafe and instantly fell in love with the interior and atmosphere of the place.

Everywhere you looked were vintage furniture, pretty trinkets and lighting highlighting all the beautiful features of the cafe, there was old style music being played and the waitresses were dressed in vintage style pinny's and hair ties. Being a lover of all things old and vintage, we didn't want to leave and decided to sit down in the comfy leather seats and ordered breakfast and not long after we couldn't help ourselves but ordered a dessert too.

After visiting the Rising Cafe I found out by looking at the website that 100% of the proceeds go to charity and the cafe is run by previously homeless and substance-addicted men and women, all the proceeds go towards helping their recovery, which I think is amazing and makes the place even more special.

We ordered two plates of eggs with toast, a bottle of water, cup of cappuccino, a pot of tea, a huge cookie and an Oreo dessert for the tiny price of around £11, which was shocking I would of happily paid double that as everything tasted delicious and fresh, the customer service was lovely everyone was so friendly and chatty, the atmosphere was great it had a retro feel and I cant wait to return again, I have told all my friends and family and they all really want to go.

I must say the Oreo dessert I had was amazing, there were layers of chocolate sauce, fresh thick whipped cream with broken Oreo's biscuits on the top and bottom, it was a big generous size as well perfect for someone like me with a sweet tooth. The brown seeded bread and poached eggs was delicious too and made just the way I like them. There was also the added bonus of free Wi-Fi which I soon took advantage of to share my food pictures on Instagram as I was working my way through the huge dessert. After food we then went exploring Coventry for the first time.

If your visiting Coventry, I strongly recommend you visit the Rising Cafe its a lovely place and all for a good cause.
