This 4-star alternative to a traditional hotel offers a quirky apartment style accommodation perfect for those seeking a spacious room that feels like a home away from home at the end of a busy day in the city. Being just a stone’s throw from the NEC arena, City Nites would be an ideal choice if attending a music event with a group of friends, offering a generous space to relax and enjoy the view of the city from your balcony.
With its ideal location, I found that during my stay at a City Nites apartment, I had no trouble getting to where I needed to be, with the accommodation only being 1 mile away from the centre of Birmingham. After relaxing on your terrace and helping yourself to the fully equipped kitchen, you can take a short 5-minute walk and discover Brindleyplace, home to some of the most instagrammable restaurants and bars in Birmingham. With my favourite being Siamais Thai restaurant and Bank restaurant, their vegan menu is delicious.
Most importantly, this innovative accommodation is budget-friendly. Its low-price tag is almost unbelievable for such a unique find within the city. As someone who has stayed at countless hotels in Birmingham, this is undoubtedly one of the most interesting stays I’ve had that wins on account of affordability, having an ideal location and being distinctive.
2. Holiday Inn Express - Snow Hill, Birmingham City Centre

The popular Holiday Inn Express chain boasts both an ideal location and a cost-effective stay. At just minutes from Birmingham’s Snow Hill train station, an essential transport link to the city, guests can enjoy a stay at this affordable accommodation from just £75 a night.
When I stayed at this hotel, my experience was nothing short of excellent. Guests stay in modern en-suite rooms complete with free WIFI and breakfast is included in the price, together with a beautiful view of the city.
This budget-friendly hotel is ideal for any guest. Within the accommodation itself, one will find a business centre and numerous conference and meeting rooms, offering a more than a convenient place to stay for those on a business trip. Alternatively, if it’s pleasure, you’re seeking, numerous restaurants are situated a short walk from the hotel, with the infamous Birmingham Cathedral a short distance away opposite my favourite coffee shop, 200 degrees.

Located in Birmingham City Centre conveniently nearby essential train, bus, and tram hubs. This 3-star ibis New Street hotel offers cleanliness, optimum service and most importantly, value for money. Ideal for those navigating the streets of the city on a business trip or city getaway, with an overnight room starting from just £51.
Although it is the cheapest hotel on this list, you certainly do not sacrifice the service you’ll receive for the cheaper price tag. I found the location of the hotel to be its main selling point. Being only a few minutes’ walk from the infamous Bullring shopping centre and the Hippodrome Theatre. The Ibis hotel offers cheap accommodation right in the heart of the city.
Within the hotel itself, you will find modern en-suite rooms that tick the boxes for tidiness and cleanliness accompanied by a desk and TV to suit your every need. Additionally, the offer of free WIFI, pet-friendly facilities and parking availability ensure you will be ultimately satisfied with your stay, whether it be overnight or for a week.
When staying at the ibis, I found the amenities on offer to be the equivalent to higher-rated hotels in the area, with guests being able to indulge in a tempting cooked buffet breakfast in the mornings and treat themselves to the drink selection in the 24-hour bar in the evenings.
