Review: Music Event and Overnight Stay at ibis New Street
ibis Hotels kindly invited me and a guest to stay overnight at the Birmingham New Street Station Hotel. The purpose of our stay was to attend the #ibislates on-tour event, which was hosted to support the Teenage Cancer Trust. The event featured live performances, food, drink, and laughs with other Birmingham bloggers. The gig started at 7 pm and carried on until the early hours.
The hotel's 'Green Room' has cosy seating, a large wooden table, bean bags, and a snooker table overlooking The Arcadian. Before the event, the girl duo Ekkah did a few interviews before getting ready for the show. During the event, we kept popping into the green room to be greeted by a selection of new snacks, sweet treats, and plenty of bottles of alcohol. We had fun sitting on the cosy bean bags while some of us attempted to play snooker, but we gave up when a ball flew off the table.
Before the show began, my guest and I checked into our ibis hotel room. We found a bag full of goodies, which was a lovely surprise. The hotel room was standard, but it had everything we needed for a short time there. We had a cosy bed with crisp white sheets, fantastic selfie lighting in the bathroom, space to hang our clothing, a powerful shower to wake us up in the morning, a selection of tea, and plenty of desk space to get some work done.
Although the rooms were basic, which is to be expected given the great affordability to stay here, the lobby was a cool hangout. Instead of a usual reception desk, staff checked us in and out remotely using a tablet. The hotel chain has also created many cosy seating areas and a place to order food and drink.

The #ibislates on tour have been travelling around the UK, hosting events to raise awareness and support for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The show started with live performances from Kenan Kian, Malunga, Ekkah, and DJ Nikita, who were all incredibly talented. My favourite had to be Ekkah - a glittery female duo with an 80s style and catchy tunes.
The event was lots of fun, and it was great catching up with a few West Midlands-based bloggers I hadn’t seen for a while. After a cosy night’s sleep, I quickly showered and packed my bag to join the others for breakfast downstairs. There was a great selection of hot and cold food, including a full English, cereal, fruit, croissants, and muffins.
I had a delicious vegetarian breakfast of hash browns, scrambled eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, and a glass of fresh orange juice. I then had a small bowl of yoghurt, granola, and dried fruit. After stuffing our faces at the breakfast buffet, we collected our bags and checked out after a fun-packed 24 hours.
