#ibislates on tour
On Thursday 11th May, the lovely PR guys for ibis Hotels kindly invited me and a plus one for an overnight stay to enjoy a night of live performances, food, drink and laughs with other fellow Birmingham Bloggers. The #ibislates on tour event was hosted to support Teenage Cancer Trust at the Ibis Birmingham New Street Station Hotel. The gig started at 7pm and went on until the early hours of Friday morning, so carry on reading to see what we got up to 😉 .
BEHIND THE SCENES
The ibis Birmingham New Street Station has a 'Green Room' featuring cosy seating, a large wooden table, bean bags and a snooker table overlooking The Arcadian. Before the event girl duo Ekkah did a few interviews on the sweet bed before getting ready for the show. During the event, we all kept popping into the green room to be greeted by a selection of new snacks and sweet treats and plenty of bottles of alcohol, which obviously went down well with us bloggers who love munching on free grub 😋. We had fun sitting on the cosy bean bags while some of us attempted to play snooker, but decided to give up when a ball went flying off the table.
THE HOTEL ROOM & LOBBY
Before the show began I checked into the ibis hotel room with my plus one. When we entered the room, we found a bag full of Ibis goodies which was a lovely surprise, I especially liked the oversized t-shirt as I love wearing them to bed. When I go on holiday I like to collect them from the various places I visit so I'll add this to my growing collection 😀.
As you would expect from an affordable hotel right in the city centre of Birmingham, the hotel room was standard - but had everything we needed for the short time we were there. From a cosy bed with crisp white sheets, fantastic selfie lighting in the bathroom, space to hang your clothing and a powerful shower to wake you up in the morning and of course a selection of tea and plenty of diskspace to get some blogger admin done on the laptop.
Although the rooms are standard the lobby is such a cool hangout, it doesn't have your usual reception desk. Instead staff check you in and out remotely using a tablet. So, with the extra space they have created lots of cosy seating areas and a place to order food and drink.
THE GIG FEATURING EKKAH
The #ibislates on tour has been traveling around the UK hosting events to raise awareness and support for Teenage Cancer Trust. The show kicked off with live performances from Kenan Kian, Malunga, Ekkah and DJ Nikita who were all incredibly talented. My favourite had to be Ekkah - a glittery girl duo with an 80s style and catchy tunes. You can see a short video clip on my Twitter.
The event was lots of fun and it was great catching up with a few Brummie bloggers I hadn’t seen for a while.
THE BREAKFAST BUFFET
After a cosy night’s sleep, I quickly got showered and packed my bag to join the others for breakfast downstairs. There was a great selection of hot and cold food. From a full English, to cereal, fruit, croissants and muffins etc. To start I went with a delicious vegetarian breakfast 😍 of hash browns, scrambled eggs, baked beans and mushrooms along with a glass of fresh orange juice. I then went with a small bowl of yoghurt, granola and dried fruit.
After stuffing our faces at the breakfast buffet, we then collected our bags and checked out after a fun packed 24 hours. I'm super grateful for Splendid PR for inviting me to such a fantastic event! 😘
