Kale Crisps Recipe
Healthy Snack Idea
It's taken me awhile to jump on the kale trend, I have been adding the green leafy vegetable to my meals a lot of over the past couple of weeks and its something I have begin to enjoy. After coming across a recipe for some kale crisps, I thought I would give it a try for a healthier low fat alternative to a pack of potato crisps. The recipe is simple, all you need is a bag of kale, sea salt and olive oil.
Firstly, wash the bag of kale by running the leaves under clean water and then dry them with a salad spinner, if you don't have a salad spinner use paper towels. Tip: The dryer the leaves the better the results, to prevent them being soggy. Snip away the stems and then put the leaves in a big bowl, marinate the leaves with drizzles of olive oil and sea salt. The first lot of kale crisps I made were too salty and oily, so be careful not to overdo it. Make sure there is an even coverage and then lay the leaves on some grease proof paper, spread the leaves out and don't pile them, so they cook evenly. It depends on your oven but put it on a low temperature and keep checking, they can take up to 25 minutes to bake.
The results, a tasty crunchy snack!
