Kiehl's - Skincare Samples
Using Kiehl's skincare products for the first time, here's what I thought
A couple of weeks ago I went to a blogger event at the Kiehl's Birmingham Grand Central store, you can read all about it here. We were all given a fab Kiehl's branded clear make-up bag full of skincare samples to take home and try out. I've finally got around to trying out all the samples and here's what I thought after getting two to five uses out of all the different products.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser
This Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser is a gentle liquid that cleanses without over-drying or stripping the skin, it's also suitable for all skin types. I've started with this sample because it's my favourite out of all the samples I tried. Cleansers to me are the most important part of a beauty regime, to thoroughly cleanse the skin and remove makeup, so I'm very picky when it comes to trying out new facial washes but this one definitely gets a thumbs up from me. The gel lathers up to a foam and made my skin feel super clean, bright and refreshed after one use. It contains effective apricot kernel oil, vitamin e and avocado oil which claims to dissolve excess oil, dirt and debris.
Kiehl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream
The Kiehl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream is my second favourite skincare product from the samples I tried. I sampled the one for fair skin and it claims to be clinically proven to correct skin tone irregularities and contains vitamin c. Since turning 25 this year I have been more aware of looking after my skin and choosing products that will prevent the signs of early ageing, so I have started buying facial creams that contain SPF, because even if the sun isn't out it can still damage your skin. So I was pleased to find the BB cream has an SPF 50 to provide the skin with high protection. The BB cream felt lovely on the skin, and it does sort of give you that flattering filter look, by making the skin appear more radiant, even and natural. During the summer I hate piling on the makeup so this is the perfect solution to provide my face with sun protection and a hint of skin matching colour that's buildable, it's also lightweight and provides a good coverage.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer
The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer is suitable for all skin types and is quickly absorbed by the skin, leaving the face feeling soft and hydrated. It's lightweight and I used it day and night after thoroughly cleansing my skin. The moisturiser contains vitamin a and e.
Kiehl's Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter
The Kiehl's Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter with shea and jojoba butter is a luxurious air-whipped body butter that is quickly absorbed by the skin and provides a rich hydration, to help restore and soften the skin. I am a big fan of body butters so this is definitely up there in my favourites, its lightweight not heavy and it also has a lovely scent and made my skin feel silky soft.
Kiehl's The Original Rich Nourishing Cream
The Original Rich Nourishing Cream is suitable for all-over body moisturising and is perfect for extremely dry or flaky skin. As I was using a sample, instead of using the cream all over the body with two to three uses I decided it would be more effective to use it just on my elbows, knees and feet to be able to provide you with a better review, by using it on the areas of the body that are more prone to dry patches. I found the cream to be highly effective and made my dry areas of skin noticeably softer.
Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate and Midnight Recovery Concentrate
As my skin is oily and blemish prone, I am very wary about using facial oils, but for the purpose of the review I went ahead and used them. The Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate claims to strengthen the skins defenses against daily aggressors to keep skin youthful and radiant looking. It contains ginger root and sunflower to help skin feel fresh and energised. The Midnight Recovery Concentrate aims to replenish skin with moisture and helps to recover radiance by morning. I used both samples day and night twice each and didn't experience a breakout, my skin did feel lovely and replenished but as I tend to shy away from using oils on my skin I wouldn't carry on using it for longer just in case of a breakout.
Kiehl's Powerful Wrinkle Reduction Cream and Powerful-Strength Line Reducing Concentrate
As I don't have wrinkles (yet!) I can't comment on the product reducing wrinkles. However, the Powerful Wrinkle Reduction Cream does also smooth skin texture and minimise pores which is an added bonus and something I have wanted in a cream, oh and it also has an SPF 30. I felt that this cream sat on the skin rather than being soaked up by the skin, and after a couple of uses I didn't notice any noticeable differences to pore size, however, it did make my skin feel soft and supple. The Powerful-Strength Line Reducing Concentrate has the same benefits of the cream, however, doesn't contain an SPF but does contain pure vitamin C. It also focuses more on the anti-ageing lines you can get around the eyes, lips and forehead.
Kiehl's Rosa Artica
The Kiehl's Rosa Artica is a youth regenerating cream with rare resurrection flower. I only used this product once and had a bad experience so didn't use it again. Basically, I had a spot just below my eye line and after thoroughly cleansing my skin I applied this cream before bed and woke up with puffy and inflamed skin on my left eye bag which didn't go down for 3 to 4 days. I do have very sensitive skin so I believe the product simply contains an ingredient that didn't agree with my skin or am allergic to.
