In this blog post, we will take a closer look at some of the best picks for American dining in Birmingham. So, get ready to indulge in some delicious burgers, mouth-watering BBQs, and all things Americana as we explore the top spots for American food in this dynamic city.
1. TGI Fridays - Resorts World Birmingham
Indulging in American-style food is one of my guilty pleasures, and after finishing my second year of university, my Birmingham blogger friend and I decided to celebrate by heading down to Resorts World Birmingham who kindly gifted our meals.
We were unable to resist diving into a colossal bowl of double-layered nachos, which boasted a layer of corn tortilla chips, melted cheese, chillies, and jalapeños, along with a hidden layer of crispy tortilla chips for dipping. The nachos were served with spicy guacamole, fresh pico de gallo, and sour cream, and we quickly devoured the entire bowl.
Our waitress, Samantha, was a delight, and she ensured that our drinks were always topped up with free refills. Since we visited TGI Fridays at 11 am, we were the first customers inside, allowing me to capture some quick snaps of the energetic interior, complete with a Harley Davidson at the entrance and the iconic bull's head bursting out of the walls. Additionally, the restaurant offers al fresco dining in Birmingham with views of the resort's lake. However, it was chilly, so we stayed indoors.
For our main course, we opted for the cheeseburger deluxe and the Jack Daniel's sesame chicken strips with chips. Both dishes were mouth-wateringly delicious, and we especially adored the sweet honey flavour of the Jack Daniels glaze on the chicken.
We perused the dessert menu and were sorely tempted by the chocolate fudge fixation, brownie obsession, and cookie dough cheesecake, but after indulging in an additional side of crispy chips, we sadly had no room left for dessert. However, we will be visiting again soon to order desserts and take advantage of their enticing 2-for-1 offer on cocktails in Birmingham.

This retro American eatery exudes appeal with its traditional diner aesthetics, with checkerboard flooring, gleaming red booths, and a vintage jukebox.
The menu is just as enticing, offering up a mouth-watering slice of American cuisine. Among the must-try dishes is the signature Ed's Plate, which combines crispy fried chicken, succulent ribs, and melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork. If you’re a vegan in Birmingham, you’ll be disappointed here, with there just being a vegan breakfast on offer.
For those with a sweet tooth craving desserts in Birmingham, the light and fluffy buttermilk pancakes are an absolute must as well as their temping shakes featuring toppings like Biscoff, Nutella, pretzels, Oreos, and peanut butter to name a few treats. And let's not forget about the classic Ed's burger, a true testament to the simplicity and flavour of American fare.
