Movie Review: Bad Neighbours 2 at Cineworld Near NEC Birmingham
As soon as I heard about a sequel to the hilarious comedy Bad Neighbours, I was counting down the days until its release. Resorts World Birmingham kindly invited me as a gifted guest to watch it while also spending the day at Santai Spa and staying overnight at their Genting Hotel.
The original film had me laughing so hard. The sequel starts with a bedroom scene that's bound to leave you in shock and disgust. Be warned: it's not for the faint-hearted. Brace yourself for some gut-busting laughter before the film even gets underway.
Unlike its predecessor, this movie has a more structured plot that's filled with deeper meaning. The couple from the first film finds out they're having another baby and want to sell their house. The only catch is that the potential buyers have a 30-day window to make unexpected visits to ensure everything is up to their standards. Enter a bunch of sorority girls, who move in next door to and start causing chaos.
The Kappa Nu girls aren't interested in hosting typical sex-fuelled parties. They want to be different and to do so, they enlist the help of Zac Efron's character, Teddy, to raise money to make rent and protect the future of their sorority. Teddy, on the other hand, is feeling lost after falling out with his bro, struggling to find work due to his criminal record, and everyone else seems to be moving on with their lives. He becomes homeless and gets kicked out of Kappa Nu, which leads him to switch sides and move in with the couple to help stop the sorority girls.
Every scene in this movie has a punchline or a hilarious event, so if you're looking for a side-splitting evening, this film should be on your must-watch list. Or, if you're like me, you'll just spend the entire time admiring Zac Efron. In one scene, he's shirtless, with hot beef oil poured over his chest. He then takes to the stage to do a sexy dance routine to distract the Kappa Nu girls, while the old couple sneaks in to steal their weed which the girls had to help pay their rent.
Seth Rogen, who is one of my all-time favourite actors, is brilliant in this film, making a fantastic on-screen duo with Rose Byrne, who plays his wife, and his new bro, Zac Efron. Chloë Grace Moretz portrays Shelby, who runs Kappa Nu, and there's also a short cameo from Selena Gomez.
If you're in Birmingham, the Cineworld IMAX cinema at Resorts World is the place to catch this film. They even have their own Starbucks and plenty of dining options to choose from, with parking only costing £1.50 for Cineworld customers.
To conclude
Birmingham boasts a diverse range of cinemas to cater to various moviegoers, be it film aficionados seeking a unique cinematic experience, budget-conscious students, or families looking for a fun-filled day out. The city's cinema scene features both historic venues and state-of-the-art multiplexes, offering a perfect mix of culture, comfort, and cutting-edge technology for an unforgettable movie experience.
Choose from our top cinema recommendations, grab some popcorn, and allow the enchantment of film to transport you to another world – just one of the many reasons why Birmingham is worth visiting.
