Reasons to Use Argan Oil in Your Skincare and Bodycare Routine

Are you looking for a beauty solution that works wonders? You should try argan oil. This liquid gold has been a secret of Moroccan women for centuries due to its incredible beauty benefits. Taken from the argan tree's kernels, which only grows in a specific region of Morocco, this oil is full of antioxidants and nutrients that are great for the skin, hair, and nails.

I discovered argan oil while looking for natural skincare options, and it has since become my perfect beauty companion. From nourishing dry skin to taming frizzy hair, argan oil is my go-to formula for all my head-to-toe needs.

If you want to know more about this fantastic natural ingredient and improve your beauty regime, keep reading to learn how to incorporate argan oil into your daily routine. Your skin and hair will appreciate it, I promise!

1. Skin Hydration and Nourishment

Argan oil is a fantastic option for nourishing and hydrating your skin. Initially, I was sceptical about using oils on my face, but my doubts vanished after applying argan oil for the first time. My skin, which sometimes experiences dryness and dullness, instantly revitalised and looked brighter.

This natural plant-based oil for the skin is abundant in vitamin E and other fatty acids, making it ideal for moisturising as it is light and absorbs rapidly without producing an oily residue. While it's perfect to use during the day, it's even better at night to work its magic while you get your beauty sleep.

I have also found it to be highly effective in softening dry patches and improving the overall texture of my skin. If you're worried about clogging your pores, don't be. Argan oil is non-comedogenic so that it won't block your pores. Adding a few drops to your moisturiser or applying it directly to your face before bed is simple.

2. Natural Solution for Acne and Inflammation

Argan oil has emerged as an unlikely ally in the battle against acne and inflammation despite the common belief that oils can worsen skin problems. As someone who has struggled with hormonal acne, I was initially hesitant to apply oil to my acne-prone areas.

However, argan oil's anti-inflammatory properties are truly remarkable. Linoleic acid, which is abundant in it, helps to soothe irritated skin and reduce redness, making it an ideal remedy for those pesky spots and inflamed skin conditions.

In addition, argan oil has antimicrobial properties, which aid in the fight against acne-causing bacteria and promote a clearer complexion. Since adding it to my nightly skincare routine, I have noticed a significant reduction in breakouts and a calming effect on my skin's overall appearance.

Applying a few drops to cleansed skin or mixing it with my favourite toner has made all the difference, changing my previously sceptical view of oil-based products for acne-prone skin.

3. Anti-Ageing Properties

Argan oil is an excellent ally in the fight against premature skin ageing, and I have witnessed its effects on my minor fine lines and wrinkles. This oil is known for its high concentration of antioxidants, such as vitamin E and ferulic acid, which help to combat oxidative stress and free radical damage that accelerate skin ageing.

Since including argan oil in my nightly skincare routine, I have noticed an improvement in skin elasticity and firmness. It's like giving your skin a natural, nourishing boost that works overnight to repair and regenerate skin cells.

Moreover, argan oil's deep moisturising properties play a vital role in reducing the appearance of fine lines. Ageing effects are more common in dry skin, but thanks to its exceptional hydrating properties, my skin appears plumper and more radiant with regular use of argan oil.

I also appreciate how seamlessly it integrates into my existing skincare routine, requiring just a few drops added to my night cream for that extra anti-ageing punch. Seeing the visible results on my skin has made me believe in argan oil's anti-ageing benefits, making it an essential part of my beauty toolkit. Best of all, it is natural and affordable compared to most anti-wrinkle treatments.

4. Strengthens Hair from Roots to Tips

The benefits of using argan oil to get a healthier mane and scalp are undeniable. After using this plant-based oil, I have experienced the difference between my previously dry and brittle hair. Given its high content of vitamin E and vital fatty acids, argan oil is a natural remedy to regenerate hair from roots to tips. Initially, I was sceptical about its effectiveness, but after using it, I can confidently say that it has made a significant difference.

Since combining argan oil into my hair care routine, I have noticed remarkable improvements. My hair feels stronger, looks shinier, and is less tangled, making it easier to manage. I apply a few drops of the oil to my damp hair, focusing on the ends before blow-drying, and the difference in texture and strength is evident.

Not only does it contribute towards protecting the hair against heat damage, but it also provides a natural moisture boost that has drastically reduced my split ends. I wouldn’t advise using this oil as a standalone solution for heat defence as it's not as strong by itself. However, you’ll often find it added as an ingredient in most heat protection sprays.

Argan oil has also been beneficial for my scalp health. I massage a small amount into my scalp before shampooing, which has helped alleviate dryness and flakiness, stimulating healthier hair growth. It's a simple step that has enriched my hair care regimen, proving that nature's solutions are sometimes the best.

5. Improves Nail Health

Argan oil has numerous benefits, not only for your skin and hair but also for your nails. Like biotin, known for its nail benefits, argan oil can be a secret ingredient in achieving strong and healthy nails.

If you have brittle nails that split quickly, argan oil can help. It has high levels of necessary fatty acids and vitamin E, which provide the nutrients your nails need to strengthen and your cuticles to soften. Applying a small drop of argan oil to each nail bed every night and gently massaging it into your nails and cuticles can work wonders.

Within weeks, you will notice that your nails grow faster, appear much healthier, and are less prone to breaking. The moisturising effect of argan oil also means that your cuticles will look neater and well-nourished, eliminating the need for constant trimming and improving the look of your beautiful nail art.

This simple addition to your nightly bedtime routine can improve your nails' health, making argan oil an indispensable part of your nail care regimen. It's incredible how such a small change can make a significant difference, proving that sometimes, the simplest remedies are the most effective.

How to Add Argan Oil to Your Beauty Routine

Combining argan oil into your beauty regimen is easy and customisable based on your needs. If you're unsure where to start, begin with a few drops. I mix argan oil with my daily moisturiser to enhance its hydrating effects, especially during colder months when my skin requires additional care.

For a radiant glow, I add a drop to my foundation for a smoother application and dewy finish. Hair care is another area where argan oil shines. Rather than spending money on expensive salon hair conditioning treatments, I apply a small amount of argan oil to my hair and scalp once a week as a deep conditioning ritual. It has become an enjoyable self-care ritual I genuinely look forward to.

Lastly, don't forget about your nails. Putting some argan oil on your cuticles before night will help maintain strong, attractive nails. Experimenting with argan oil has simplified my beauty routine and introduced me to the pleasure of using natural products.

Products Containing Argan Oil

Now that you know the advantages of argan oil, let's look at some of the cosmetics I have been using lately. These products use argan oil as the main ingredient in their beauty range. However, if you prefer to use this essential oil in its purest form, you can do so to gain the most potent effects.

Review: Eness Cosmetics Argan Oil Hair & Bodycare Products

In September, I introduced Eness Cosmetics, a new ethical beauty brand in the UK. They kindly let me choose a couple of body care products to try for free in exchange for a review. However, recently, they asked me to return to the store to try out their new ‘Exotic Africa Argan Oil’ range, and I was happy to give it a go. Eness is a Fairtrade brand, and I appreciate that they opened their first store in Birmingham, my hometown. So, I'm happy to support a great small independent business.

The people at Eness are passionate about their products, ingredients, and how they are sourced and made. They were generous and gave me many products to keep, which was an early Christmas present.

I received a beautifully presented red gift box containing a rose gold candle, Gentle Bath Milk, and Nourishing Hand Cream from the ‘Exotic Africa Argan Oil’ range. This range is enriched with natural argan oil, Abyssinian oil, and ylang-ylang oil.

I love taking baths, especially during this time of year. So, turning off the bathroom lights, lighting a candle, and pouring beautifully scented bath milk into the tub is bliss. The scent is relaxing and calming. Hand cream is essential in winter, especially since I forget to wear gloves. The argan oil hand cream has helped my hands stay soft and prevented them from getting sore.

Argan oil has many beauty benefits. It's high in vitamin E, perfect for hydrating and softening the skin. The famous oil also benefits hair, making it silkier, shinier, and softer and helping to treat split ends and tame frizzy hair.

The shampoo and conditioner have made my hair smell gorgeous. My hair is super long now, and brushing after washing can be an effort. However, the argan oil has made it much more manageable. The hair oil has also made brushing easier. The first time I used the oil, I applied too much and too close to the roots, making my hair greasy. But I ran a small amount through the ends the second time, which worked perfectly. It doesn't weigh my hair down, which is a bonus.

Finally, the ‘Cocoa Heaven Body Scrub’ has a warm fragrance of cocoa enriched with vitamin E and coconut oil. This scrub is fantastic, full of crushed grains of pure salt and sugars. It removes tough, dry skin and leaves a soft, silky layer. This makes shaving legs easier because the razor glides over effortlessly. The product layer comes off, so it is necessary to rinse the razor before subsequent use. This is one of my favourite scrubs, similar to the ‘Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub’. However, Eness sells it for half the price!

To conclude

As I wrap up my exploration of argan oil, I can confidently say that it has become an essential part of my beauty routine, just like almond oil and honey. Its natural properties have been highly influential in revitalising my skin, restoring shine to my hair, and even strengthening my nails.

The versatility and efficacy of argan oil make it an outstanding choice for anyone looking to improve their beauty regimen using the power of nature. I hope my experiences and tips have inspired you to try argan oil. Remember, a little goes a long way in achieving radiant skin, luscious locks, and strong nails.
