World Duty Free - High End Beauty Brand Haul
Urban Decay, Smash Box, MAC, Bobbie Brown, Nars and Benefit makeup & skincare high-end beauty haul..
Last summer World Duty Free invited me and a handful of Birmingham Beauty Bloggers to attend their newly revamped store inside the shopping terminal at Birmingham Airport. World Duty Free spoilt us with canapes, fizz and a £100 shopping spree plus a goodie bag of makeup. It was such a fun day, you can read all about it here. Back in the summer, I promised to blog about all the beauty goodies I had received from the event, and hooray I have finally worked my way through them so here you are... a high-end beauty haul chat about the Urban Decay, MAC, Boobie Brown, Nars and Benefit goodies which World Duty Free were generous enough to gift me.
Urban Decay - Makeup Setting Spray
The Urban Decay Makeup setting spray is my saviour. During the event, we all got to have a professional makeover from the Urban Decay team. I was chatting to the makeup artist about what products she would recommend for oily skin and she said she can't leave the house without spritzing this oil control spray on top of her makeup. She sprayed some on me after the makeover and I just loved how fresh it made my face feel, so I went ahead and bought it with the gift voucher World Duty Free gave me. Since the summer I've used it non-stop, I wouldn't say it has dramatic oil control results as my face can get pretty darn oily, but it does keep your face shine free for longer so I couldn't be without it.
Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette
This may sound a little crazy to all those Urban Decay eyeshadow palette obsessives, but other than nude or smokey shades I don't wear any other shades of eye shadow. Sadly, I just don't think they suit me, or I'm just not applying them effectively enough to pull it off. However, I do think the shades in the Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded eye shadow palette are gorgeous. The shades 'Freakshow', 'Smog', '501' and 'Goldmine' have got to be my favourite to look at. But ones I actually wear are 'Oil Slick', 'Twice Baked' and 'Moonflower'. The eyeshadows are high-pigment and long lasting.
Bobbie Brown Protective Face Lotion
The Bobbie Brown Protective Face Lotion was one of the items I picked out myself using the World Duty Free gift voucher. My first initial reason for picking this was because I needed a SPF face cream to take on holiday with me to Santorini. Although whether you're on holiday or not, it's recommended that we wear a SPF on our face every day. So after my holiday I have continued using this, it contains an SPF 15, vitamin E and chamomile which I have found effective at calming my sensitive skin after a wash. It's also lightweight, absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling smooth.
MAC Pro Longwear Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel
During the event London Makeup Artist harrymakesitup was on hand to give us Birmingham bloggers a trending summer makeup look. I opted to have the blue eyeliner to go with my blue eyes. Harry used the MAC Pro Longwear fluidline eye-liner gel in shade Siahi blue. I really liked how it looked, and she gave me perfect cat flicks. After the event, I went shopping in the city centre and then out for food on the evening and it had stayed put without smudging so it certainly is long-lasting.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Hybrid Complexion Perfector
The Urban Decay Naked Skin Hybrid Complexion Perfector in shade 'light' is what the makeup artist at the Urban Decay counter applied on me during the event. It contains an SPF 20 and claims to blur imperfections and even out skin tones. When I'm having a good blemish-free face day then this certainly does the job when I don't need full coverage on a casual day. However, when I'm having a break out this tinted moisturiser doesn't give me the coverage I need. Instead, it creates a great base before applying foundation, it's lightweight and does make the skin look fresh and radiant. What I also really like about the 'One & Done' is that it contains nourishing ingredients such as vitamins and peptides to help improve your skin over time, by making your face more radiant, firmer and to make pores appear smaller.
Nars Issist - Eye, Cheek & Lip Palette - Travelers set
The Nars Issist Travelers set is one of the beauty gifts the World Duty Free team put in our goodie bag. Before receiving the set I had never used Nars before so this eye, cheek & lip palette was a lovely introduction to the brand. As it's a great compact set and comes with a mirror and beautiful smokey and nude shades I took this on holiday with me. The coral lip gloss looks really nice on too.
Benefit They're Real Mascara in Blue
Benefit are one of my beauty favs, I especially love their mascaras and my mom is a big fan of their blushers as you can find out here. I also reviewed the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara awhile ago here. The Benefit They're Real Mascara in blue looks great especially with my blue eyes. I wore the blue mascara at a party and then again at a Halloween event. Although blue looks awesome, it's not something I could wear on my lashes often, so I have this mascara in black and it gives great full lashes and the comb is great at preventing clumps too.
Smashbox L.A Lights Hollywood & Highlight stick
I'm a big fan of highlighters, so when I came across this Smashbox L.A lights blendable lip & cheek stick I thought I would give it ago as I had read some great reviews. The highlighter is a lovely pearly shimmer colour and leaves a dewy glow on the cheeks. It's easy to use and the cushion blender is handy so you can keep the highlighter in place. I mainly use it on cheeks and below my brow line. This one is called the Hollywood & Highlight but there are other shades too, such as Venice Beach Bronze and Silver Lake Sunset that I need to get my hands on.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Powder Foundation
The Urban Decay Naked Skin Powder Foundation is another item that was recommended to me at the Urban Decay counter, so I bought it using the vouchers from World Duty Free. Firstly the compact powder comes in the cutest little purple floral bag. It can be used as a powder or foundation by adding a few drops of water. The makeup artist highly recommended it to reduce shine and it also provides a good matte coverage. I've been using this with the Urban Decay Hybrid Complexion Perfector above and then finishing with a spritz of the makeup setting spray and have been really happy with the results.
