YSL - The Ultimate Day to Night Collection
The ultimate YSL day to night fragrance collection
When summer comes there’s nothing I love more than stripping back the makeup and giving my face that touch of summer glow and wearing a nude palette on my eyes, coral on my lips and naturally enhancing my lashes with a flick of mascara and finishing with a touch of contouring.
During the sizzling summer days, the last thing your face wants is to be wearing a thick layer of makeup that’s likely to become a sweaty mess during the day. However not all of us are blessed with flawless skin – I’m certainly not. So, I was more than happy to receive a complimentary pack of travel minis from Yves Saint Laurent featuring a blur primer, lip perfector, lipstick and the ultimate day to night duo perfume to prepare for those special summer occasions.
YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer
Primers are my face prep hero. There’s been days where I have rushed my makeup and not used a primer and have noticeably noticed the difference in how my makeup has looked after a few hours. I don’t have a smooth even skin tone, so primers are an essential piece to my makeup routine to help reduce the appearance of my enlarged pores and make my skin appear smoother. I’ve yet to find a miracle primer that has created a flawless smooth canvas that has filled in all my pores, yet the YSL Blur Primer is certainly up there as one of my favourites by giving my makeup staying power.
The YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer is enriched with four nourishing oils – rice bran oil, apricot kernel oil, corn oil and passiflora oil helps to minimise the look of pores, improve the skins texture, tone and to help your makeup stay put for longer. It contains blur technology and features a golden shimmer to give your skin that summer glow for the ultimate luminosity.
Firstly, the blur primer is clear so is suitable for all skin tones, it contains beautiful gold glitter pieces and feels so lovely when working it into the skin. Also, a little goes a long way and at first it feels greasy but once your skin has soaked up all that oil goodness its created a soft non-oily feeling base to start applying makeup.
Overall it makes the skin feel truly nourished and does work well at preparing the skin for makeup and does keep it in place. However, I didn’t really notice any difference in it reducing the appearance of my pores. Although, I do have relatively large pores on my cheeks so I don’t expect a primer to make a dramatic difference at reducing the orange peel appearance. But bear in mind, everyone’s skin texture is different so it may work well for others and not so well for people with my similar skin type.
YSL Lip Perfector
I’m a little bit obsessed and ocd when it comes to keeping my lips moisturised and soft I’m forever applying lip balm as I just don’t like that dry cracked lips feeling. I have a lip balm in every bag I use, on my desk and on my bedside table. So of course, I was looking forward to trying out the YSL Lip Perfector . It’s a 3-in-1 multitasker, it contains shea butter to nourish the lips like a lip palm, salicylic acid to gently exfoliate the lips and remove flaky skin and annatto fruit extract helps to reveal and enhance the colour of your lips.
The clear consistency of the formula is thick and smooths onto the lips creating a soft moisturised feel. I apply it using my finger and I find dry skin is easily removed when I apply it in a circular motion. Overall it does make my lips feel soft and moisturised, it removes flakes and could easily be worn alone for a nude lip look.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick
Pink and coral shades are perfect for summer, so this rosy coral shade in No.52 is the perfect combination to create that effortless summer makeup look. It’s a highly pigmented colour that contains SPF15 which is just what your lip’s need to protect them during hot summer days. I’ve found using the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick with the YSL lip perfector creates a beautiful intense colour with a plump lip look. It has a satin finish and just needs a slight top up throughout the day, I also love how the luxurious gold YSL packaging doubles up as a mirror which is great when your applying on the go.
YSL Black Opium Eau De Parfum
The YSL Black Opium Eau De Parfum is the perfect hot summers night fragrance, it has top notes of pink pepper and pear, heart notes of jasmine tea and orange blossom and base notes of coffee accord, patchouli and vanilla beans.
This has got to be one of my favourite fragrances I’ve had the pleasure of sniffing in recent months and during this time I’ve received so many samples and although I’ve loved the scents of many others this one really stands out to me. It has a floral seductive fragrance that’s also quite dark and mysterious.
YSL Black Opium Floral Shock Eau De Parfum
The new YSL Black Opium Floral Shock Eau De Parfum is the ultimate summers day fragrance as it contains a variety of fruity and floral notes. The top notes are freesia accord, pear accord, bergamot essence and lemon essence. Heart notes of gardenia accord and orange blossom accord and base notes of coffee accord and white musk.
I live with two women and I always make the mistake of showing all my complimentary beauty products to them and obviously they love this YSL fragrance, so I’ve had to keep it well hidden as I’m quickly running out.
These two scents are the perfect day to night fragrances to be wearing this summer and I especially love the glam rock glitter frosted bottle.
